Walking in the streets of Sana'a usually consists of loosing yourself in this labyrinthic open museum. When attracted by a building or a nice composition I usually make an unconscious abstraction of all the modern details which are now invading the old part of the town : electric wires, satellite's antenna, rubish or old cars. When looking at the pictures developped, I am amazed to see how they contain this architectural contradiction that defines the modern society of Sana'a. Nevertheless, the white bricks and the old minarets, the composition of the windows or the integration of the home gardens is an unique pleasure. |
